Angelina Zhang

Angelina is entering her final year at the University of Toronto pursuing a double major in Ethics, Society and Law, and Peace, Conflict and Justice with a minor in History. Passionate about refugee empowerment and labour rights, she is involved in several refugee advocacy organizations such as the World University Service of Canada and Matthew House Toronto. Specifically, she is interested in R2P’s prevention and rebuilding components that are integral to maintaining sustainable peace. Moreover, she is curious to explore how R2P can continue to evolve and account for shifting environmental and technological considerations worldwide. Angelina is thrilled for the opportunity to expand her understanding of R2P this summer and to learn from her incredible team!

Da Seul (Regina) Chong

Da Seul, also known as Regina, is entering her second year at the University of Toronto and hoping to pursue a double major in International Relations and Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies. Her interests in contemporary global affairs issues, human rights, and the environment have led to her involvement as Outreach Director at the University of Toronto's Amnesty International, a student leader in the International Issues Discussion Series, and G20 compliance analyst for the Rome cycle. Da Seul's most recent research addresses human rights in nuclear North Korea and the implications of corruption in the Central Triangle of Central America. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, reading, playing the piano, and spending time with her dogs. She is excited to join her team to aid in the research on the R2P principle and learn from this amazing opportunity!

James (Xiaolong) Wang

James is an incoming second year at the University of Toronto majoring Ethics, Society, & Law and Philosophy, with a minor in Psychology. Graduated from an International School in Singapore, James has previously worked as a Compliance Analyst both at the G7 and the G20 Research Group and is excited to extend his experience into the R2P field. James has also worked as a Crisis Analyst at the North American Model United Nations and is a member of the UofT Pre-Law Society.

Eleanor Park

Eleanor is an incoming sophomore at the University of Toronto, seeking to pursue a double major in English and Religion. Her experience has largely centred around initiatives relating to religion, law, and politics, which are her research interests. Eleanor has most recently worked as a Compliance Analyst for the G7 Research Group's Human Rights team, Vice President for Innocence UofT, and volunteer committee member for Innocence Canada. She is beyond excited to work for CCR2P when its work is more significant than ever.

Nathan Ye

Nathan is a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto studying International Relations and East Asian Studies. His academic focuses include Asia-Pacific defence issues, modern Chinese history, and Cold War American foreign policy.

Yasmine Wafa

Yasmine is a PhD student majoring in Innovation and Canadian Policies. Her areas of interest include Women's Rights, free speech, freedom of religion, minority rights, peace law, war crimes justice, equity work, and equitable minority groups in Canada and the world. She is also passionate about sustainability and has spent the current year volunteering as an SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) senior Coordinator at SDSN (Sustainable Development Solutions Network). She plans and implements initiatives that promote greener, greener, diversity, inclusivity, healthier, more peaceful, and equal planet.

Nicole Dougherty

Nicole is currently working on her Masters in Political Science. She has a Honours BA in Political Science and History from the University of Guelph, where she focused on Canadian political development, propaganda and Quebec Nationalism. She has a keen interest in intellectual property security, Canadian foreign policy and Canada's continued role in ensuring the success of multilateral organizations and peacekeeping. Nicole is a huge science fiction and fantasy fan, particularly Star Trek, which she believes has always demonstrated what can be accomplished when people from different cultures, regions, and beliefs work together in the pursuit of common goals and interests.

Michael Levinson

Michael is an incoming third year student at the University of Toronto, studying International Relations, History, and Political Science. He has worked as an analyst for the G7 Research Group, the European Studies Students' Association Undergraduate Journal, and is heavily involved in University of Toronto Model United Nations Conferences. Michael is passionate about foreign affairs, global governance, and contemporary history. Michael is looking forward to intern at CCR2P in a Research and Policy capacity as he hopes to further his understanding of the R2P norm and its importance today.

Fatemeh Nami

Fatemeh is an incoming third year at the University of Toronto studying Economics and Ethics, Society, & Law. Fatemeh has previously worked as a Research Analyst both at the Rotman School of Management and the School of the Environment, and is excited to bring those experiences to a position in International Relations. Fatemeh has previously worked as a moderator and committee manager at the North American Model United Nations, and advanced to the quarter-finals at the 2020 National Debating Championships. Currently, Fatemeh is Student Body President at UofT’s Arts & Sciences Students’ Union, is debating competitively at the Hart House Debating Club, and is working as a research assistant in compiling the first Digital Database on Arab women critical writers and activists.

Moyukh Syeed

Moyukh is a fourth-year student studying Peace, Conflict, and Justice at The Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. Influenced by the interdisciplinary nature of her studies, she has developed interests within the intersections of social and environmental (in)justices, climate migration, and refugee and human rights law. She recently completed an internship with GreenPAC, where she gained experience working closely with a prominent non-governmental organization and analyzing the national and global effects of Canadian environmental politics and leadership. She has authored a published paper on the impact of Mastery—a post-colonial concept—on international environmental injustices. Now, she is excited to collaborate with her teammates to explore and develop knowledge on the R2P principle!

Tara Osler

Tara is a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in History & International Relations from the University of British Columbia and l'Université de Genève. She has conducted research on a variety on subjects in the history of colonization, asymmetrical warfare, and human rights. Having worked previously as a research & communications assistant at Mines Action Canada, she is passionate about international cooperation for peacebuilding and interested in researching effective strategies for promoting peace. Tara hopes to pursue a career in diplomacy or human rights advocacy, with an eye to work at an organization like the United Nations. She is excited to learn from the team at the CCR2P and contribute to its ongoing research.

Matthew Barrett

Matthew graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours BA in International Relations and History. He currently belongs to the G20 Research Group at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy where his focus is on emission reductions and international investment toward renewable energy sources. Having lived in Geneva and Vienna, he has been positively influenced by a culture of international cooperation and developed an appreciation for Canada’s unique role in multilateral diplomacy. His research interests include conflict prevention, the limits of military intervention, and cybersecurity. He intends to pursue a Master’s degree in Global Affairs with the Munk School.

Emma Rogers

Emma is entering her fourth year at the University of Toronto. She is pursuing a double major in immunology and international relations (focus in international law and human rights) and is particularly interested in the intersection of science and policy. She is very excited for the opportunity to work for the CCR2P this summer. 

Lolita Vorobyeva

Lolita Vorobyeva is a second year student at University of Toronto. She is pursuing a double major in Public Policy and International Relations with a minor in American studies. Her research interest include peacekeeping, international security and preservation of human rights. She is excited to further explore the Responsibility to Protect doctrine and its implications!  

Tea Vasha

Tea Vasha is a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a double major in International Relations and Criminology, and a minor in Political Science. She will continue to be part of the Research & Policy division at CCR2P after holding the position of Deputy Director for the R2P & Canadian foreign policy division. As part of her undergraduate studies, Tea has completed a paper on the role of international missions in the process of state-building in countries that have experienced humanitarian intervention, exploring whether these missions assist in the emergence of sovereign states in the international arena. She also completed an independent study on the challenges posed to migrant workers during the pandemic, focusing on government response to the exacerbation of these inherent challenges. Tea is also part of the NATO Association of Canada. In September 2021, she will be starting the Master of Public Policy at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. 

Tracy Hampton

Tracy Hampton is in the final year of her BA in Political Science and Sociology at the University of Victoria. She recently completed an internship with the Malaysian Social Research Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she worked with refugee and asylum-seeking populations. This experience, along with her educational background, have led her to seek out a career in international affairs and human rights. She is excited to apply her skills in her work with CCR2P and to learn from everyone involved in the organization.

Lina Maria Zuluaga

Lina Maria is a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto. She has a double major in Political Science and International Development Studies and a minor in Public Law. Her main interests centre around international human rights law, geopolitics, and international security. She is passionate about a world without borders and hopes to contribute to building that vision of the world one day. In her free time, she loves learning about different cultures. She speaks four languages and is eager to take on two more in the near future.

Jones Enebeli

Jones Enebeli is a responsible management professional with several years of a hands-on wide range of work experience. He holds a Master of Arts in Diplomacy, Law, and Global Change from Coventry University, England. Jones recently concluded a Master’s certificate program in Public Management and is currently undertaking a Master of Public Administration (MPA) course at the Johnson Shoyoma School of Public Policy University of Saskatchewan Canada. Jones is impassioned about Public Policy, Governance, and Administration and possesses a keen interest in International development works mainly in such areas as: R2P framework, Human rights, Immigration, International aid, Girl- child education, and Indigenous Rights and Treaty Reconciliation

Jones currently works with the Office of the Treaty Commissioner as part of a team primarily focused on coordinating efforts to engage both the public and community leaders on the nature of Reconciliation in Saskatchewan. This process aims to work with as many partners as possible to identify shared priorities and a broadly owned vision for the future.

Brynn Hopper

Brynn is a fourth year Political Studies major at Queen’s University. Her academic interests include; gender equity, global environmental legislation and peacekeeping in times of humanitarian crisis. Brynn is the Operations Manager of The Observer, Queen’s University’s international relations-based publication devoted to promoting knowledge of global affairs from all regions of the world. She is also the former President of Queen’s Kenya Help, a non-profit organization that aims to create self-sustaining communities in Ngong, Kenya. This past spring, she helped raise funds to complete the building of the Women’s Empowerment Center; a place of refuge, safety, and education for young girls and women in the region. Brynn is excited to join the CCR2P team in order to influence the conversation around the implementation of the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine and Women’s Rights.

Sean Logan

Sean is a recent history and political science graduate from UBC. His studies focused on modern history, comparative politics and international relations. He is passionate about human rights and the environment and hopes to work for an organization that advocates for these issues in the future. His goal is to return to school to complete a master's degree in political science in 2021.
